Although we are currently only fundraising for Saint James Community School, we hope to expand to other schools as well after we reach our goal for this school. We will fundraise primarily through donations from our supporters.
We will try to get in a few volunteer activities a month in order to raise awareness about our project as well as raise money for our cause. No one is required to volunteer, but it will greatly benefit us if people do start to get more involved.
The majority of the people involved in this project are high school students, however, the school we are currently raising money for is connected to us through the owner of the school, George Ooko.
Saint James Community School is an orphanage located on Mfangano Island, situated in Lake Victoria, Kenya. The island is home to around 30,000 people and holds the largest population of the Suba people. However, the rise in HIV/AIDS on the island has resulted in an extremely high number of orphans. George Ooko, the founder of Saint James Community School, along with four other teachers, provides support to over 100 of these orphans. Additionally, the school needs assistance in raising funds to provide salaries for the teachers, as well as nutrition for the children. Your generous donation can help ensure that the school can continue to support the children of Mfangano Island.
